Welcome!

Below you will find a profile and a mission statement for our center located in Rocky River, Ohio. To the left are links to more detailed information.  We hope you find our website informative.  Click on Contact info if you wish to communicate with us.  Click for a PowerPoint slide show of the facility.  A free PowerPoint Viewer is available at microsoft.com.

Our center is a non-profit program established by the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in 1985 to fill a need for affordable quality child care for children of working  parents.  The center is a community outreach program and no religious viewpoint is promoted by the center.  In addition, our Center accepts County Vouchers through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Child Care Assistance program which covers part of the tuition, based upon income, for working parents.  For more information about financial assistance, you can call the Child Care Hotline for an application: 216-987-7346 or click on the the following link to see if you qualify: Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.  Click here for WSCCC's Mission Statement.

Profile of our Center

West Shore serves approximately 85 families from Rocky River, Cleveland and surrounding suburbs in Ohio. Our hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, year round.  We provide only full-time care for infants 6 weeks old in our Nursery through 4 and 5-year-olds in our Preschool room. Our After School program provides part-time care for children in kindergarten through the 5th grade during the school year, and full time care in our Summer Camp, June through August for graduated K-4th graders.   Our Center is licensed by The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Since July of 2005 our center was a part of the
Early Learning initiative (ELI), a collaboration with the
Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and the
Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.  This program
has been eliminated as of 8/22/09.

In July of 2006 WSCCC was awarded one star as a Step Up to Quality
participant.  Please click the name for more information.

WSCCC aligns its curriculum with the Early Learning Content Standards.

West Shore invites parents of enrolled children to visit at any time.  Families interested in West Shore may tour the Center during our hours of operation, 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, at their convenience.  No appointment is necessary but it helps to insure that someone will be able to escort you on a tour of our facility.  We recommend that visitors avoid rest time and come before noon or after 2:30 p.m. so that they can see children and teachers interacting with one another.  Visitors before 9 a.m. should call a day or so in advance so that administrative staff can plan to meet with them.

Our Mission

The mission of the West Shore Child Care Center as a program of the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church is to promote the well-being of children in our community by providing quality, affordable child care and by supporting their families.  The child care center does not promote any religious viewpoint.  To learn more and view the Church's website, click here  West Shore U U Church or on the left.
