Camp Description...
This summer campers will take a step back in time. Together we will be recreating the days when knights rescued damsels in distress because dragons roamed the earth. Medieval roles are so diverse that everyone should find one that peaks their interest. We’ll prepare medieval food, entertainment, practice sports, music and knightly games as well as learn games for fun and about every day life.
The coronation of a king
and queen will culminate in a Coronation Feast at no additional
cost. Parents are encouraged to attend.
Everyone’s experience each week will build upon the previous week, giving all
the chance to expand upon their interests. Those who like building will
construct a town. Others may participate in mini tournaments to establish
knightly ranking. Musicians and jugglers and acrobats will practice
entertainment for the King and Queen. And then for a full week a town will
emerge and there will be a Faire and Grand Tournament so that everyone will have
the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills.
Throughout the summer campers will go on many ‘Adventures’. These will include
swimming at the Rocky River Recreation outdoor pool, bowling, and a field trip
to the Cleveland Art Museum. More outings are being researched and will be
advertised when they are finalized. There will be Quests as well, but they are
shrouded in secrecy and may not yet be revealed!
Parents will be invited several times throughout the summer. Some things are
still in the planning stages. So far, a Craft Day is scheduled. Craftsmen and
women will come to West Shore to demonstrate their medieval specialties and
offer to let everyone try their hand at them. And there will be the traditional
Crowning of the Royals and a feast to celebrate.
Of course there are costumes to design and make, and preparations are as much if
not more fun than the actual events! So won’t you join us? We look forward to
reenacting Medieval times with you!
