Profile of Entire StaffOur director has newly arrived from New Jersey where she was the director for many years in the YMCA. Our Assistant Director, Joan Elliott, infant teacher, received the "Teacher of the Year" award in 1991, and Annette Bristol received the "School-Age Provider of the Year" award in 2000. West Shore has a low rate of staff turnover for the field of child care. A core group, approximately 60% of the 21 staff members, has been employed at West Shore for five or more years. West Shore is committed to the retention and the advancement of its excellent employees. Our Center offers health insurance to employees who work 30 hours a week or more, as well as vacation and personal time. Our wages are very competitive with other child care centers in the area, while keeping tuition affordable for working parents. All of our staff are required to take First Aid, Communicable Disease Recognition, Infant-Child CPR, and Child Abuse Recognition. West Shore pays for this ongoing training. The minimum requirement for employment is a Certificate of Training from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services involving 45 classroom hours of in-service earned within three years, including the above-mentioned courses, as well as child development. Our director and seven of our 21 employees have 4 year degrees. Our Assistant Director has a Masters degree, two staff members are working on their Masters, a Nursery staff person is a registered nurse, four employees have Associate Degrees in Early Childhood Education, and one has an Associates degree in Psychology as well. Four staff members are currently enrolled in college.
